Occupational pension is the part of your pension that is paid by your employer. When your employer pays your salary or sick pay, they also pay contributions to your future occupational pension.
If you are not working, your employer will not pay premiums or contributions to your occupational pension plan. This is covered by insurance instead.
Waiver of premium insurance
As a wage-earner, you have waiver of premium insurance if you work for a private or cooperative undertaking.
A claim against your waiver of premium insurance is made at the same time as you submit a claim regarding our health insurance (AGS), work injury insurance (TFA) or parental leave supplement (FPT). We then consider whether you are also entitled to contributions to your occupational pension.
You may be entitled to occupational pension contributions even if you are not entitled to the parental leave supplement. You should therefore submit an application for the parental leave supplement even if you have not been employed long enough to be eligible for compensation.
When you apply for compensation for illness, a work injury or parental leave, this is also a claim regarding waiver of premium insurance. You therefore do not need to submit a separate claim.
Waiver of contribution insurance
Waiver of contribution insurance applies to people employed by Swedish municipalities, regions, the Church of Sweden or municipal undertakings.
If you receive sickness allowance, activity allowance or a work injury life annuity from the Social Insurance Agency, Afa Försäkring will pay your occupational pension contributions instead of your employer.
You do not have to submit a waiver of contribution insurance claim. Such a claim is submitted automatically when you apply for compensation for illness or a work injury.
